Lee Ready To Defend President Cup
Defending champion Sam Lee will be out to retain the EZGO/ J Kevi Group sponsored President Cup set for December 3 at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club.
Fiji PGA president David Roche said yesterday the Korean-born professional golfer would be there to claim back-to-back title wins from a field of strong competitors.
“Sam Lee is the defending champion and will be playing here before departing for Australia where he attempts to secure his tour card for the Australasian Tour,” he said.
Roche said the professionals would play for the $5000 prize purse while the amateurs would be vying for the $1500 prize.
“We are expecting a field of 100 players. The event objective is to assist in growing the game of golf and providing an event for our professionals to get the much-needed competitive experience.”
He added last year’s event had the largest field for some years, which is the reason why they are doing it again in Denarau. Roche thanked their sponsors for making it happen.
The sponsors are EZGO & J. Kevi Group, MacMark Construction, Tappoo Group, Temo Consulting, Cloud 9 and Laucala Island.
