Remember Roles: Reddy To Student Group

Remember your roles, the Minister for Education, Mahendra Reddy, reminded members of the Fiji National University (FNU) Students’ Association.
Mr Reddy highlighted this during the FNU’s student association inauguration at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay Convention Centre on Saturday night.
“You are the very important stakeholder of the university community and first and foremost, you need to understand what the core business of university and all the stakeholders need to converge in respect to that particular core business,” Nr Reddy said.
“I think it is important that you truly behave like a stakeholder. You are a stakeholder of the FNU.
“The university’s core business is to ensure that you undertake teaching, research and provide the learning environment to students and undertake consultancy to some extent.”
Mr Reddy explained the student association was a body to enhance the environment of students to ensure that the students’ association becomes a conduit between the students and university management.
“It is very important that student association, apart from ensuring that students do get what they deserve, they also ensure that they contribute towards building future citizens of the country,” he said.
The minister urged the association and management to work together.
