Cure Kids Fiji has received a donation of $5000 to boost its finance for upcoming projects here with children who require medical attention.

BlueSky and SpringBreak, is made up of tourists who fly into Fiji for a holiday and raise funds.

It handed over the cheque onFriday at the Big Bula Waterpark on Denarau Island.

The group represents more than a thousand New Zealanders who flew into the Mamanuca Islands during November to celebrate their end of the year Spring Break and BlueSky music festival.

The director of Cure Kids Fiji, Sally Cooper, said: “5 dollars was collected from each participant at this years’ events to be donated to Cure Kids Fiji who for the last 10 years have been working very closely with the Ministry of Health to improve health care for all of the children of Fiji.

“This donation that we have received will go towards our upcoming projects in the local hospitals to try and support the children who need medical attention.”

She said one of the new projects next year is to look at oxygen delivery systems in hospitals.

“We are looking at solutions to supply oxygen at hospitals. This will help reduce mortality rates,” she said.

Meanwhile, a participant from the BlueSky and SpringBreak, Richard Henry, said they were glad to raise money for the benefit of the local community, and they would continue to do so.

The promoters and organisers of BlueSky and SpringBreak had also invited some of the children who are diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease, and carers and siblings to attend a Fun Day at the Big Bula Water Park.
