Fijiana XV Focus On Task Ahead
The Fijiana XVs team entered their final week of preparation with high hopes of their upcoming challenge at World Rugby Women’s Rugby World Cup qualifier in Hong Kong.
They take on Hong Kong on December 9 before facing Japan on December 13.
Fijiana XV assistant coach Ro Alivereti Doviverata said their goal to beat Papua New Guinea has been achieved.
“We’ve have put that behind us and are now focusing on the qualifiers,” he said yesterday.
“So far so good. The girls have responded well to training, the injured girls have been good and this is the final week of training.
“We are confident and we want that place in the final 12 so that is our goal. We have achieved our short-term goal which is the PNG game and the Hong Kong tournament is our mid-term goal so we are looking forward to playing.”
Ro Alivereti is calling on the public to show their support for the team as they hope to create history next week.
“We need the support of the public especially for the women’s team. This is the first time they will be fighting for a place in the women’s World Cup so we need your prayers and support so that they are able to achieve their goal.”
The team depart for Hong Kong this Sunday.
