The 2016 Arts Dux of Sigatoka Methodist College, Ravi Tappoo, has made his family proud through hard work and determination.

Ravi has continued to achieve in academic excellence and now looks forward to study abroad to get all the right qualifications to join the family business.

His father, Harish Tappoo, said he was humbled by his son’s achievements from the same school where he and Ravi’s grandfather, Kanti Tappoo, had completed their high school education.

“We have worked especially hard this year, knowing that Ravi’s education was very important to what options he has for the future,” Mr Tappoo said.

“Extra tuition and a lot of study with a good attitude all goes a long way and I wish him to pursue any career his heart desires, as long as he is happy.”

He said this was a big step for Ravi and the family would continue to support him.

Ravi attributed his achievements to his principal and teachers, and most of all his parents and grandparents, and the entire Tappoo family.

“There is no substitute for hard work,” Ravi said.

He said he was fortunate to have been brought up in a family whom were deeply religious with high moral values.

“I have applied for admission at universities in Australia and New Zealand for a degree in Commerce. I want to get all the necessary qualifications before I join my family business here in Fiji. The Tappoo Group currently employs highly skilled and professional people,” he said.
