ANZ USP Laucala Branch Closes Down
The ANZ branch at the USP Laucala Campus will close permanently from today.
However, the bank will maintain an ATM on site when the branch closes.
Westpac is now the only bank with a branch on the campus.
ANZ spokesperson Mue Bentley Fisher said in recent years, the banking preferences of their customers have changed.
She said most customers now choose to do their day-to-day banking via internet banking or ATMs, and fewer are using the branch.
“The USP branch recorded low patronage, with many of those on campus opting to conduct their banking using electronic means,” said Ms Fisher.
“We support these ‘early adopters’ of technology, and at ANZ we are committed to the continued development of digital means to help make banking easier for all our customers.”
According to Ms Fisher, the internet banking for instance, means customers can bank 24/7 almost anywhere without having to wait for branch opening hours.
“We’ve also made access to Internet Banking free for Vodafone Fiji users, meaning they don’t incur data costs when accessing our website,” she added.
“We acknowledge that there will still be a need for cash and some other customer information that can be accessed via our ATM network.
Ms Fisher said the customers requiring full branch services may visit the nearby branch at ANZ House.
She added the bank does not have plans to close any other branch.
