Fans have a chance to take part in nominating a winner for the Fiji Rugby Union Awards night on December 16 as the Vodafone People’s Choice Awards was officially launched yesterday.

There are five categories with four nominees which the public can choose from by texting their initials to 812 with each text cost 50 cents.

FRU chairman Commander Francis Kean said the nominees were picked on their character, performance and popularity.

“The Vodafone People’s Choice awards will allow the people of Fiji to vote for their favourite players, both domestically and internationally including our coaches,” he said.

“We are grateful to Vodafone for the continued partnership which is a reflection towards growing our national game.

“The nominees for these five categories were selected on their character, performance and popularity so I urge people to start voting.”

Vodafone Fiji Limited sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau said they are grateful to FRU for providing them the opportunity for the people of Fiji to “have their say.”

“Vodafone is proud to be partners and the brand behind the People’s Choice Awards for the upcoming Fiji Rugby Union Awards night,” Vakarau said.

“We would like to acknowledge FRU for a very successful year, it started off with the defending of the World Sevens Series, the Flying Fijians defending the Pacific Nations Cup and the biggest one was the Olympics.

“We have come on board to give the people of Fiji to have their say and that is through our texting platform.

“There are five categories with four nominees so the people have a variety of options to choose from.

“We encourage everyone to have their say and vote for their favourite.

“This is going to be an exciting event and we should all look forward to it.”
