Varasikete Takes Dux Award At Davuilevu
Salanieta Varasikete is the first married woman from the Davuilevu Theological College to be presented the Dux award.
The 46-year-old could not hold back tears when she received the Principal’s Prize for Academic Excellence, the Reverend Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa Trophy.
Mrs Varasikete also scooped the Reverend Etuate Meru Kuru Theology prize during the college graduation ceremony at the Davuilevu Theological College in Nausori, yesterday.
“I am thankful to God for the knowledge, wisdom and strength we have been going through in our three years journey,” she said.
“No time was been wasted. Even a housewife, a mother can do better in education in theological field and excel as we did here.”
Mrs Varasikete said she was happy that her husband, Mosese, was present during the graduation.
“My husband always supports me and I am able to graduate successfully with his support and guidance towards my education,” she said.
Mrs Varasikete has thanked the United Methodist of Australia and United Worlds for offering her the scholarship to study at the College.
Mr Varasikete said: “I am so proud and happy with my wife’s achievement.
“She is a very hardworking lady. I have always supported my wife and I will continue to support her.”
Mr and Mrs Varasikete are from Korovuto Village in Nadi.
They have four children and currently live in Nausori.
