A recording engineer’s hope for people who cared was revived again yesterday after the Sugar Industry Tribunal members paid him a visit with some Christmas shopping.

50-year-old George Low said people who cared existed after receiving the shopping gift from the tribunal.

Mr Low, who currently resides with his wife, 52 year old Mereoni Low and son, 30 year old Apete Low in Tavakubu, Lautoka, was delighted with the gift.

He said he was privileged to be given an early Christmas shopping and he acknowledged the members of the Sugar Industry Tribunal for having a heart and looking out for people who needed help.

Mr Low said these people were like a family to him because of the kind gesture.

Sugar Industry Tribunal Commissioner Tim Brown said the members had planned to help the needy rather than having an end-of-year party.

“Rather than exchanging gifts or doing a party, we felt if we put money away every week; we would then be able to go out and identify people who really needed help,” he said.

The members of the Sugar Industry Tribunal had visited 12 families in the Lautoka area yesterday providing Christmas shopping for the festive season.

Mr Brown wished the people of Fiji a Holy Christmas and a prosperous 2017.
