‘While it had been a month it still worried her that the children and women of Saweni might become victims of the filthy and criminal act by the man.’

A community watch group which works closely with the Fiji Police is adamant that a suspect, who is exposing himself to women in the Saweni area near Lautoka, will be caught.

Saweni Community Watch Group co-ordinator Lee Forrest said the suspect who exposed himself to a woman was also recently involved in an incident with a British couple a week ago.

Ms Forrest said the concerns were that this sort of behaviour was generally known to escalate overtime and the man posed a real threat to society.

“The community group had advised the victim to report the matter to the police station as we share a positive partnership with the Lautoka Police and we expect that they will eventually catch this suspect if he continues to commit these crimes against public decency,” Ms Forrest said.

Picnickers and those who love to venture down to Saweni Beach in Lautoka have been warned to be aware of the suspect who has been going around exposing his private parts to women.

The victim who wished to remain anonymous said the incident took place on November 30.

Although a month had passed, it still worried her that the children and  also the women of Saweni might also become victims.

“He had asked me if I wanted to rest with him and I said no in an angry way and kept walking down the beach with my dogs,” she said.

“When I returned he approached me again and again I repeated my decline in an even louder voice.”

It is alleged that the suspect continued to follow and when she turned around he was exposing his private parts and performing a filthy act.

“I set my dog to attack him, she bolted barking towards him but he ran into the bushes into the Saweni Hotel grounds,” she said.

The victim said a gardener also ran after him, but could not catch him.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro had not responded when this edition went to press.

In a separate incident on Thursday, a man was produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court for allegedly exposing his private parts to his neighbour.
