Marist Seahawks preparations on track
Marist Seahawk rugby women’s 7s team are calling on their players to step-up as they want to win the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s women’s title on March 24-25 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Seahawk manager, Wilisoni Naigulevu said, they are confident of improving their performance in the tournament.
“Our preparations are on track,” he said.
“So basically to any tournament that the Marist Seahawks participate in we always prepare well and we have been training every morning and afternoon at the USP Hills ground for about an hour.
“We are generally working on our basic rugby skills, fitness of the players and also trying to improve on our line-ups.
“We will try our best to go out there and play according to our game plan and activate the pace of our players very well. We have won a couple of Marist 7s women’s tournaments and last year we reached the semi-finals and 2015 was the last year we won the Marist 7s women’s title.”
Naigulevu also said that he’s grateful that they have produced some good players over the years, who have made it to the national women’s team.
“About seven of them from which two are currently part of the Telecom Fijiana 7s team. We are one of the leading women’s rugby team in the country. When it comes to promoting women’s rugby I’m always proud that we are part of it.
“I would like to thank the support of the Marist Old Boys, Marist Rugby Club, Fiji Sun for promoting the Marist 7s rugby along with our major sponsors Fiji Bitter,” Naigulevu added.
