The construction of a 123-metre long pedestrian suspension bridge over the Korotari River, outside Labasa, has answered the prayers and pleas of a community there.

Students of Korotari Arya Primary School have over the years crossing the river either by horse, boat or even wade through the waters to get to school. But gone are those days now.

The suspension bridge was partially made possible through a United Kingdom-based couple who donated the funds through the Prime Minister’s development programme.

Korotari Arya Primary School Kala Wati lauded Margret and Peter Long, one of the donors for the $572,000 bridge who went to visit the site.

The bridge is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
