Minister’s Excellence Awards
The Minister’s Excellence Awards was launched at the Principals Conference on 15th March 2017. The Minister’s Excellence Awards are meant to appreciate the schools, its teachers and heads who have produced remarkable results and brought prestige to the education sector.
Honourable Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy thanked the heads of schools and the hardworking teachers saying that the Minister’s Excellence Awards was a small token of appreciation from the Ministry of Education.
The Minister’s Excellence Awards were given in three categories :
n Top performing Schools in each Grade – 7 awards
n Schools with 100 percent pass rate – 7 awards
n Schools that have excelled in National sporting events – 7 awards
Category 1: Top performing
schools in every grade
The Ministry of Education awarded the top performing schools and principals in every grade level of the secondary schools with the Minister’s Excellence Award.
The principal who was at the school in 2016 was awarded a plague acknowledging his/her hard work and the current 2017 Principal accepted the cheque made to the school in the sum of $8000.
Accompanying the cheque was a shining Gold Star to place on the entrance of the school as a recognition of the school’s achievement.
Category 2 : 100% pass rate at Year 12 and 13 levels and the Highest percent pass rate at Year 10 level: The School received a Gold Star and $2500.00 cheque. The 2016 Principal was awarded with a plaque.
Category 3 : Sports Award
The school received a $500 cheque and the Principal was awarded a plaque.
