Naiqato, Basei For France Leg
France- based Telecom Fijiana players Litia Naiqato and Luisa Basei will be considered for the last leg of the 2016-17 Women Sevens Series in Clermont-Ferrand on June 24-25.
The duo are currently playing for Stade Rennais RC and Telecom Fijiana head coach Iliesa Tanivula confirmed they would return in May and will be considered for the last leg.
“They currently doing well and scoring tries and looking forward to see them in May when they return home,” Tanivula said.
“They are fit enough to play in the last leg but we just need to conditioned them and they will be ready come June,” Tanivula said.
The Telecom Fijiana side have started preparation for the fourth leg of the series in Kitakyushu on April 22-23. Following their fifth finish in Las Vegas in the third round Tanivula said their main aim now was to maintain consistency.
“We have started preparation for the fourth round and it’s good to see that the girls are in good condition, no major injuries just few niggling but they should be okay next month.
“I’m emphasising consistency to the team.”
Meanwhile, the Telecom Fijiana side are in fourth place in the standings with 36 points, behind Canada (46) Australia (50) and New Zealand (56).
The top four teams of the series automatically qualifies for the Rugby Sevens World Cup in San Francisco next year.
