Couple Who Defied Odds Welcome Baby Boy
Sabnam Nisha and Neel Roop, who made headlines last month for defying the odds to marry one another despite Ms Nisha’s disability, have welcomed the birth of their son.
It was a happy day for the couple when their 2.55kg baby boy was born at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
“It’s the biggest blessing from God and it’s a healthy baby boy and I was surprised a person like me would give birth to a normal baby boy,” said the proud mum.
Ms Nisha had a Caesarean section and was at the intensive care unit after the delivery and is now recovering. She is both breastfeeding and bottlefeeding her newborn son.
“I was just praying for my baby and my wife and I’m just happy they are in good condition and are just recovering,” Mr Roop said.
Mother and son are expected to be discharged soon. Ms Nisha, 32, who has been physically disabled since birth, first met her husband after sharing her story with him on Facebook.
After being in contact for a few months, Mr Roop brought Ms Nisha from Lautoka to Suva.
The two were married at the Samabula Senior Citizens’ Home last month.
