Rodu Gets Coach Award
Marika Rodu won the Coach of the Year gong during the Fiji Football Awards last night at the Yue Lai Hotel in Suva.
The award came as a pleasant surprise to his wife Paulini Rodu who received the award on his behalf.
The Rewa coach is currently in Tahiti with the ‘Delta Tigers’ for the OFC Champions League.
Paulini said she always supports Rodu and the Rewa team.
“It’s a pleasant surprise,”she said.
“He deserved it as he is committed to soccer and I always wonder when he is going stop being involved. But I just live it to him to decide.”
The 33-year old shared the challenges they always go through together as a family.
“I always give him my full support and when he’s out I handled all the family work. I’m thankful that I have the support of my family members and our four children.
“The main challenge is looking after the family, when he’s out I’m like the mother and father in the house.”
Bible verse Philippians 4:13 ‘I can do all things through him who strengthens me’ is the quote the Rodu family rely on to succeed.
“We always rely on our favourite bible verse whenever we are alone or when the chips are down. But congratulation to my husband who has been devoted family man and a mentor for Rewa.
“He is always hardworking as he trained the Rewa team from 3pm to 5pm and attended his class at the Fiji National University from 6pm to 8pm.”
Rodu is studying for a Diploma in Accounting at FNU.
