The Sitiveni Tikoisuva-captained Team Fiji B returned home yesterday with a bronze medal.

The side laced with sharp shooter Bobby Prasad, Avinesh Vinod and David Aitcheson who all are members of the Nadi Sports and Social Club.

They lost to Shenzhen which featured two of China’s national reps in the Tiger Bowls China Tour in Shenzhen, China.

“The tournament was pretty tough and there were 16 national teams in the  China Open,” he said.

“In China there were in two pools and top four teams qualified in the semi-final, where we lost to the Shenzen in the 18 seconds carpet green (indoor).

“It was a great exposure for the team to play in international event like this.”

Two weeks ago the side edged Hong Kong national team 8-6 in the 20th Tiger Bowls World Invitational Fours Championship at the Lawn Bowls Training Centre, in Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong.

“We are proud and honoured to have the bowlers from our club perform well in the international arena. This lifts Fiji as whole,” said Nadi Sports Club president Mike Jamieson.

Unfortunately, Team Fiji A which had the services Abdul Kalim, Santok Singh, Kushal Pillay, and former world’s number two ranked Ratish Lal was not able to proceed from the pool games.

Tikoisuva thanked national airline Fiji Airways and Nadi Sports and Social Club and for sponsoring their attire and preparation.

The next event is the Hudson Cup (fours) hosted by Sheraton Bowling Club during the Easter weekend.
