Nadi football striker Rusiate Matererega scored a hat-trick as Kings FC hammered defending Super Premier champions Gandhi Lionz One 3-0 in the opening round of the KK’s Hardware local league at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

Skipper Vereti Dickson led the Ranjesh & Company-sponsored side well boosted with Nadi reps Luke Rawadamu, Inia Boko, Alfraaz Ali, Andrew Naicker and Waisake Tabucava.

Lionz had the services of Ame Votoniu, Jalame Vukivuki and Semesa Muadonu.

Kings FC led 2-0 at halftime.

“We started our season with a bang and to beat defending champions by that margin is great,” team manager Abdul Khan said.

“Our aim is to feature in the National Club Championship this year

“We are grateful to Ranjesh & Company for their sponsorship of $50, 000 in cash and kind for this season alone.”

Nadi FA secretary Mohammed Mohin was happy with the turnout.

“We have a total of 26 teams  with 14 teams for the Super Premier and 12 senior teams,” he said.

“NFA is grateful to the support of the local businesses with KK’s Hardware as naming rights with their $5000 sponsorship.”
