Petrini Family Marks First Holi Outing
The Holi Festival or the festival of colours continues to be celebrated.
Taialofa Petrini, her husband Kevin and their three children celebrated their first Holi Festival yesterday with friends at the Laxmi Narayan Mandir at Holland Street in Suva.
The family, who are former residents of Samoa, have been living here for the past seven years.
Ms Petrini, 41, who is a yoga specialist, said: “This is our first Holi, it has been a wonderful experience and my children had so much fun throwing colours.
“I have heard about Holi but today I have learnt that Holi is about happiness; when they pour water on your head and it makes you laugh.
“I would love to be part of Holi celebrations every year now.”
Ms Petrini said her family was invited by a friend to be part of Holi celebrations at the Laxmi Narayan Mandir.
Laxmi Narayan Mandir pundit Shastri Jayendra said: “Holi was on Monday but we are celebrating it today because children had to go to school.”
“For children to get together and play Holi therefore, we decided to celebrate Holi on Sunday.
“There is no restriction on anyone to celebrate Holi with us. Anyone can celebrate Holi with us.”
