We’re here to win and qualify, says NZ coach

New Zealand All Whites coach Anthony Hudson said they are going to shut out Roy Krishna in today’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash at Churchill Park, Lautoka

Hudson told SUNsports yesterday that they are wary of the damage the Vodafone national football captain could do if not contained well.

“Roy could expose weaknesses in our defence if given room to move in,” he said.

“Fiji is a good team and we respect them as they have some very good players especially their captain who we know very well. Roy is a dangerous player we know him and we hope we can keep him quiet tomorrow.”

Hudson said they want to qualify to the next stage of the World Cup and they are focused on that objective.

‘We are here to win and there’s nothing else. It is not going to be an easy game I think if we were to think that then it would be very dangerous because Fiji can be dangerous.”

Hudson hopes that the Fijians defend a lot meaning that there would lots of balls for their attacks.

He said they have been up to par while playing friendly matches for the last couple of months.

“It was good, we had a good run as we lost one and we won 15 games so we are on a good run.”

Meanwhile, national football coach Christophe Gamel is going to reveal his line-up this morning.

Gamel is expected to select a defensive line-up with more defenders in the final 20-member squad that was announced on Thursday.

Likely line-up: Simione Tamanisau, Taniela Waqa, Remuera Tekiata, Kavaia Rawaqa, Kolinio Sivoki, Avinesh Suwamy, Setareki Hughes, Epeli Saukuru, Dave Radrigai, Roy Krishna ©, Osea Vakatalesau.
