Miss World Fiji 2016 Pooja Priyanka encouraged girls to be more vocal, more open and not be afraid to hear the sound of their voice.

She was one of the judges during the Miss World Fiji auditions at the Grand Eastern Hotel in Labasa, yesterday.

“A lot of the girls coming to the audition are very shy,” Ms Priyanka said.

She encouraged them to be otherwise.

However she said, “It is very good to be in Labasa and see girls coming in to make the best use of the opportunity provided to them.”

Miss World Fiji national director Andhy Blake said there will be 10 finalists who will contest the Miss World Fiji title this year.

He said they would go into three stiletto boot camps.

“The top 10 finalists selected from the 40 or so girls from around the country will go into stiletto boot camps where I will use my experience with the Miss World organisation,” Mr Blake said.

“I have worked with this organisation for nearly 10 years. So what I do, I will teach the girls how to act like a Miss World contestant, how to sit, carry themselves in public, stand, how to speak to judges and overall build their confidence.

“For them it is just not competing, it’s about experience. When they come out from the Miss World Fiji pageant competition they are more confident. ”

This year, Mr Blake said they intended to go bigger because of the exposure that the current Miss World Fiji, Ms  Priyanka, gave last year.

“She took Miss World Fiji to another level,” Mr Blake said.

The top 10 finalists are expected to be revealed publicly on April 15.

“I will have a big reveal photo shoot on April 15 with the 10 chosen girls and by April 18 the whole world will get see,” he said.

“I would like to thank all our supporters and sponsors, FBC TV, Damodar Group, Grand Pacific Hotel, Fiji Airways and we also like to thank Grand Eastern Hotel as we hold our last casting.”

Ms Priyanka said whoever were the top 10 finalists they should consider it as a lifetime achievement.
