A tactical change made by Lautoka 10 minutes from time saw super sub Sekove Finau slot in the goal that beat Rewa 1-0 yesterday. This was the only highlight of the Vodafone Premier League clash at Churchill Park, Lautoka.

What happened: In a tough encounter the home side had the territorial advantage as they kept the Rewa defenders working overtime.

Led by wily striker Valerio Nawatu and Mohammed Shazil, the Blues applied pressure with an attempt by defender Jone Vesikula just going wide.

Nawatu had his chance in the 25th minute from a clever backheel by Shazil but his attempt from the edge of the box failed to find the target.

Halftime: Lautoka 0-0 Rewa.

Rewa’s Madhwan Gounder and veteran Lorima Dau were tough on defence as they held back the Lautoka attacks. Then in the 80th minute Finau replaced Nawatu and he combined well with Shazil.

Comments: Lautoka coach Kamal Swamy said; “There was mixed response from the crowd when I made the change, but the young player should be given the chance and he proved it with the given opportunity.

Rewa coach Marika Rodu said; “Physically we were not fit, we had three days training this week and had few injuries. ”
