The Kamal Swamy coached-General Machinery Lautoka football side will be in full force to end their seven-year drought by winning the 19th Pillay Garment’s Champion versus Champion Series this weekend.

Boosting their preparation is the return of robust defender Zibraaz Sahib who has marched into camp yesterday.

Sahib had to take his dad to India for medical treatment and missed Sunday’s Vodafone Premier League clash against Rewa.

“Zibraaz Sahib is expected to play on Friday since he is back in camp,” said Swamy.

The Blues first played in the CvC Series in 2005 where they lost to Ba.

They appeared again in 2008 but fell short. In 2009, Lautoka claimed their first CvC title after beating Ba and Navua respectively. They last played in  2010 where Rewa came out victors.

“It will be a tough battle because CvC is one of the toughest competitions. Ba have played and won many times so we cannot underrate their recent performance.

“They will come back strong as they are a good side and there is no doubt about it. We will work on our game plan and so far we don’t have any injured players.”

The first leg kicksoff on Friday at 7pm at Churchill Park, Lautoka with the return leg to be played in Govind Park, Ba on Sunday at 3pm.
