Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber will name his final 12 member team today for the Hong Kong Sevens starting tomorrow.

Fiji has yet to establish a win in the 2016/2017 Sevens Series circuit and captain Osea Kolinisau says they are prepared to defend their title at So Kon Po Stadium.

“We feel good after coming into Hong Kong early and we’re in a really good place and are getting things right.

“Hong Kong is a special place for every young Fijian. We grow up watching our idols who have worn the white jersey.

“It’s like a right of passage – we say if you haven’t played in Hong Kong, you haven’t played for Fiji,” Kolinisau added.

The team has been working tirelessly on organising their defence.

“We have seen progression after our scrimmaging session with Scotland, we have seen the way we played especially on the contact areas; defence is good.”

Meanwhile, Baber said the inclusion of Fijian winger Joe Ravouvou into the New Zealand 7s squad would make no difference with the way they will play the Kiwis.

The 7s traditional rivals will meet in their final pool match at 9:12pm on Saturday.

“Fijian players play exactly the same quality the way other Fijians have been playing for New Zealand and Australia,” Baber told SUNsports.

He said 7s had nothing to do with a single player’s calibre but the whole group.

The Fijians start their campaign against Japan tomorrow at 11:54pm followed by Wales on Saturday at 5:12pm and New Zealand 9:12pm.
