The Fiji Rugby Union gave $5,461 to Cure Kids Fiji to support their work in finding solution to some of the diseases that are a serious threat to children in Fiji.

FRU board chairman Francis Kean yesterday presented the cheque to Cure Kids Fiji director operations Sally Cooper.

“Sally on behalf of the Fiji Rugby Union we want to thank you for coming onboard with us and we want to present to you a small token of appreciation on behalf of the Fiji Rugby Union council,” Kean said.

“It’s just to extend to your society our appreciation of the work that your team is currently undertaking and we hope the small contribution that FRU has made towards your organisation will help in the programmes that you have and will also provide some comfort to the peace of mind to those who will benefit from the support that your organisation works toward.”

Cooper acknowledged FRU for their support and the funds received would be used to purchase equipment needed for further oxygen system.

“Thank you Fiji Rugby Union as your kind donation will assist in realising our long term goal of ensuring that no child dies from lack of oxygen in Fiji,” she said.

The fund donated was collected from the Fiji Rugby Union awards night that was held earlier this year.

The sports memorabilia that was sold to raise funds for Cure Kids Fiji was a signed All Blacks jersey, a signed Fiji Rugby 7s and 15s men’s jersey and a signed Bruce Springsteen guitar.
