SKK Tops Music Charts
Since its formation last year, Senilagakali Kei Koroilagi (SKK) has become one of the hottest local bands right in the country right now.
Popular singles like Rosi Ni Lomai, Mavoa Ni Yalo, Karamaca, and E Mosi Dina amongst others have become a hit amongst locals.
The band also performed during singer Julia Zahra’s concert last month and it was great experience for them.
Lead singer and composer, Jesoni Tukana decided to form the band after been part of Leba Boi Yawa and the Dokidoki Brothers.
“Being part of the Dokidoki Brothers encouraged me to develop my talent and song writing skills,” said Tukana.
All five members of the band do music full-time are all friends who met at music school years ago. They have performed in resorts in the Malolo and the Yasawa islands, birthdays, weddings, and clubs like Wrecktangles and Sand Dunes.
“The name of the band is inspired by a flower called Lagakali found on the beach on my island of Vanuavatu in Lau.”
The band had also sent in their application for this year’s Fiji Performing Rights Association Music Awards that will be held next month.
The band thanked God for their talent, family, their fan base, and local radio stations who have supported them. Members are Jesoni Tukana, Marika Saqa, Netani Waqasaqa, Josua Cagi, and Sakaraia Wainimala.
“Advice to other artist is everything is possible and if you really want to do music you have to compose your songs really well,” said Tukana.
Recording for the band’s second volume will be with Exotic Music Fiji and fans can expect both i-Taukei and English songs with a mix of all genres. It will be released later this year.
They will be at NASA Cub in Nadi on April 14th (Friday) as part of their fundraising drive for the band.
