Lami survive challenge

The Lami football side edged out Northland Tailevu 4-3 in the sixth round of the Vodafone Senior League competition at the Fiji Football Academy ground, Suva yesterday.

Lami coach/ player Deepak Chand led from midfield and scored two goals while defender Asish Chand scored  the other two.

Chand told SUNsports that despite their lack of preparation and the absence of some key players they still managed to win.

“I’m happy that we managed to make a comeback in the second half,” he said.

“Also, we are hoping to start our regular training programme.”

He said they would try their best to retain the Southern Zone title.

Northland Tailevu coach Simione Sagatanamua said they need to work on their fitness.

“The combination is fine but the players lack fitness since we can’t train together because we are live in different places,” he added.
