Six teams have cemented their spot in the quarterfinals of the Vodafone Muslim Inter District Championship (IDC) at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Today, Makoi take on Varavu in the first quarterfinal, Rewa face Valelevu while Nasinu play against face Maigania.

Fiji Muslim Sports Association general secretary Mohammed Mohin Rafiq said it has been an exciting two days of competition.

“The teams have come well prepared this year and are very competitive,” he said.

“We have also noticed that teams have a lot of potential and it is very hard to know who will win. The southern teams are much stronger than the western teams, which is good to see and I’m sure this will be something that will attract the public.”

Rafiq has urged fans to come out in numbers to watch the games.

“All the teams who have made it into the quarterfinals deserve that spot and that means the competition will be tough. We are urging the fans to turn-up in numbers to support their favourite teams because they will all be displaying top football and that is something no one should miss out on. So we are expecting the crowd to build-up tomorrow and make this tournament a lively one.”

The last pool games will be played this morning to determine the final quarterfinal spots.
