The Vodafone Fijian 7s team have booked their spot in today’s Cup quarterfinal of the Singapore Sevens.

This followed last night’s 38-7 win over Russia in their second pool game. They took on Canada early this morning and the Gareth Baber-coached side are going to face either USA or New Zealand in the Cup quarterfinals.

The Fijians showed aggressiveness in the kick-offs and dominated possessions when they scored four tries though Kalione Nasoko, Nacanieli Labalaba, Amenoni Nasilasila and Osea Kolinisau in the first half to lead 24-0.

Baber reminded the players at half time to lift their intensity and be ruthless in defence. Nasoko copped a yellow card for a high tackle, which allowed the Russians to run in their lone try before the Fijians ran away with the big win.

The Cup quarterfinals kickoff at 4.30pm.
