Two teenagers were handed a suspended sentence for theft by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne sentenced Jim Walter, 19 and Mike Borron, 18. They were sentenced to two months imprisonment, suspended for two years.

Walter and Borron pleaded guilty to the charge and agreed that on April 13, 2017, they stole cash and assorted items from a bus driver worth $800.

Walter told the court that he was a student at the Nabua Technical College and Borron said he was a carpenter.

In their mitigation, the pair asked the court’s forgiveness and promised not to reoffend.

The state prosecution was represented by Police prosecutor Corporal Josua Shaw.
