9 New Tablets Donated To Primary School
Students and teachers of Naikelikoso Primary School in Macuata were delighted to receive nine tablets recently from the Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation.
School head teacher Dharmendra Govind said they are very grateful to receive such valuable educational assets.
“Naikelikoso Primary School, being one of the rural schools, where there is no electricity supply from Fiji Electricity Authority, but have access to solar power, is so fortunate to get tablets from the foundation in order to enhance students’ learning,” Mr Govind said.
“In this 21st century, this information technology tool is very important to the students and teachers as it improves collaboration, developing IT skills, publishing, sharing and searching for information, creativity, flexibility in terms of space and time, and motivation in children’s studies.
Mr Govind said: “93 students and nine teachers will benefit from these tablets in terms of doing research and other educational work,” he said.
“On behalf of the school management, teachers, parents and students of the school, once again I thank the foundation for the great assistance.”
Vodafone Fiji Limited Labasa branch manager Arunesh Vishwa said the school also received one year free internet access.
The total value of the project was $2500.
Mr Vishwa said: “This project is part of our strategy for knowledge and information sharing.
“Extending internet access has the potential to address number of economical and social dimensions.
“This technology will surely benefit the teachers and students when it comes to research work and assist them to be in par with other schools in urban areas.”
