China, Fiji Strengthen Health Ties
A high level delegation comprising of medical officials from Guangdong Province, in China held discussions with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services senior managers on the way forward in strengthening the partnership to enhance the health sector development in Fiji.
The meeting held last Thursday took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Suva.
The discussions included areas of collaboration in terms of equipping the Navua Hospital with medical equipment. It also included discussions about sending medical professionals from Navua for training in areas of cardiology, non-communicable diseases prevention specialisation and providing technical assistance to broaden the capacities of the doctors and nurses.
The team also visited the Navua Hospital following the meeting to have further discussions on the way forward in establishing the Fiji Guangdong Medical Training Centre.
The visit has been aligned with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2015 between the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Guangdong Health and Family Planning Commission, China.
