Congress To Address Issues Affecting Us
Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Jone Usamate, has been confirmed to be among the speakers at the Fiji Institute of Accounts (FIA) congress which commences tomorrow.
Mr Usamate will be speaking on ‘National Outlook 2017-2018’.
However, the keynote address speaker is yet to be confirmed as the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, now has another commitment.
More than 400 delegates are expected to attend the congress at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa.
FIA president, Jerome Kado in his previous statement said: “The two-day congress will focus on reinforcing the realisation of issues affecting us all from a local and global perspective which includes global mega trends of rapid urbanisation, climate change and resource scarcity, shift in global economic power, demographic and social change and technological breakthrough and disruption.”
FMF Foods Ltd managing director, Ram Bajekal will also be sharing his perspective on the global mega trends and issues for local businesses.
Mr Bajekal said: “The main focus of my presentation will be to look at the global mega trends that other speakers are discussing, and look for examples of how they would apply to Fiji, what is being done in Fiji in regard to those trends and what we could perhaps be doing in that direction. It will be more of flagging trends and questions for reflection by participants.”
He added exchanging ideas and listening to other speakers would bring new ideas that could implement their work, which was also one of the objectives of the congress.
Mr Bajekal has been part of the congress since 2010 and tomorrow will be his fourth time as a speaker.
“The congress is certainly getting more futuristic, as it should be,” he said. The event concludes on Saturday, April 22.
