BLK Nadroga captain Sekonaia Kalou said as the Skipper Cup defending champions they were ready to put their body on the line to retain the title.

The Stallions have been extensively preparing themselves for the opening clash against Jack’s Nadi at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka at 3pm on Saturday.

Kalou who shapes up as one of the locks is among those players who has worn the jumper often is confident to reach the top four towards the end of the season.

“We expect things to be tough with the top eight teams in the roll as per the new format,” he said.

“We had the best off-season preparation time compared to previous seasons and as defending champions we are ready for the challenge and will defend the title with games week after week.”

Kalou said there was no excuse not to give a grand match taking into account playing tough neighbours Nadi.

“Knowing Nadi that they are good and champion side as well and we are up and know what to expect and there is no excuse,” he said.

He said a piece of history would be unveiled on game day in front of the rugby mad–fans in the Western division.

Meanwhile, Malolo Skipper Veniona Vuki said his team was ready for the showdown against Suva at Prince Charles Park in Nadi at 3pm on Saturday.

“This will be an eye opener for the boys and to face Suva in the first match,” he said.
