Asinate Kasowaqa won her second gold medal at the Coca-Cola Games at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

Kasowaqa of Adi Cakobau School took out the senior girls triple jump with a leap of 11.19m to win gold while Jasper Williams High School’s Francis Kurivatu and Rosalia Raqato took out the silver and bronze respectively.

It was no surprise for Kasowaqa who says, she wanted to win the event given the huge pressure that lies on the school to take back their title after four years.

“I’ve trained really hard and sacrificed a lot to be here,” Kasowaqa said.

“It was not easy, especially with the competition coming in from the Jasper girls, they really tested me and put on a good show.

“I think the motivation for me when I took part is the fact that we wanted to take our title back from Jasper.

“Every gold counts, no matter if it is won on the field or on the tracks, I really wanted to contribute to our medal tally and managed to do so.

“I thank the school and my coaches for supporting me and being with me and guiding me. Without them I would not have done this.

I just hope when the dust settles tomorrow we will come out victorious,” she added.
