Tuvusa Is Coke’s Fastest Athlete
Natabua High School’s Shane Tuvusa is the Coca-Cola Games senior boy’s 100 metres champion.
Tuvusa said dedication and commitment towards training paid off after he won the blue ribbon event last night.
The Year 13 student defied all odds as he ran through to the finishing line. It was unfortunate that Marist Brothers High School’s top bet Keasi Naidroka pulled out from the 50m line due to a hamstring.
The Natalecake, Ba villager had his first experience on the 100m track this year and was confident of a positive result.
“As I took my mark on that starting line I was confident that I will win the race,” Tuvusa said.
“I wanted to take the title to the West and make my school and the Western side proud.”
Tuvusa ran a time of 10.53 seconds, Marist Brothers High School’s Tony Lemeki settled for silver clocking 10.78s while Lelean Memorial School’s Netani Vakayalia won bronze with a time of 10.97secs.
“For me the only secret, I have, is obeying my coaches instructions and always do my best in training.”
Teacher-in-charge Rusiate Wadali said Tuvusa’s positive attitude towards training has assisted him to win.
“He is a very dedicated athlete, we started preparing the off season and for Shane he always have a positive attitude towards training. He utilises his time well and is very humble. This is his final year and I believe this is what he wanted to give back to the school.”
