The Rewa football team will be out to do well in the group stage of the Vodafone Fiji FACT 2017 tournament, which gets underway tomorrow at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Rewa coach Marika Rodu said this is their intention as they aim to win the tournament.

‘We want to repeat our 2011 Fiji FACT win,” said Rodu.

“I feel we are doing great in terms of preparations and also we have managed to set new objectives during our training sessions. Our aim is to qualify to the finals and make it to the number one position.

“I’ve been monitoring the players’ performance since the premier league matches and I strongly believe that through their impressive performance we will be able to achieve good results”

Rodu said last weekend’s postponement due to the threat caused by Cyclone Ella, has in fact given them more time to prepare.

“The postponement of the tournament had affected the players but we’re now on track and will make good use of the remaining training sessions.

“I’ve selected the final nineteen players and each player plays a crucial role in our goal which is to win the tournament.

“As the coach I will not single out anybody as an individual because I expect everyone to do their best,” he added.

Rewa face Lautoka in their first match on Thursday at 7.30pm.
