Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel says all eight teams are expected to come out firing at the Vodafone Fiji FACT which kicks off today at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

“The teams have got an extra week of preparation as the tournament was postponed to this week,” Patel said.

He says the ground is on tip top condition and fans will watch a very competitive football in three days in Nausori.

Looking at the ground condition he said the Nausori Town Council had worked overtime to maintain the ground and its facilities. The president said the group stages would be very difficult to predict the four top teams till the final pool match.

“We cannot predict who all will be in the semi-final till the final pool play as all teams will come prepared.”

He said the postponement of the tournament was beyond their control as they had to think of the safety of everyone.

“We had no option after the Cyclone warning because our priority was the safety of players, officials and fans.”

Patel said the semi-finals and finals were likely to be played next month.

“We have no option for the semi-finals and finals because of the national team’s commitment till June 11.”

The tentative date for the semi-finals and finals would be 16, 17, 18 June at a venue yet to be confirmed.

The fans can use the Day One tickets on Thursday, Day Two tickets on Saturday and Day Three Tickets on Sunday during the Group Stages at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

The pool games begin on Thursday with Suva playing Rakiraki in the opening match at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park.

At 3pm, Nadi plays Ba after which Dreketi takes on Labasa at 5.30pm. In the last match of Day one, hosts Rewa takes on Lautoka at 7.30pm.
