Four-day Chef’s Event To Promote Equality, Gender Balance

The organisers of the four-day culinary event – Master Class Fiji – will be promoting equality and gender balance through their programme at the end of the month.

The open public event will take place at the Rhum Ba in Denarau over the course of four days. It will offer a variety of workshops and cooking demonstrations by leading professionals.

Managing director for The Coliseum, Valentin Corchado, said: “We are now, working on another exciting project to support and promote equality and gender balance in our kitchens, through the introduction of culinary scholarships for high potential Fijian Female Chefs.

“This time around, we have a great response from chefs and businesses so far.”

Australia-Pacific Technical College representation and support was confirmed with the active participation of their Master Patisserie, Amanda Young, and Chef trainer, Alisi Delai.

Other participants include Vegan and Food nutritionist Cat Adora, and Harumi Zuroshi (Fiji chocolate) for hand rolling Udon noodles.

Fiji National University is participating with the provision of 15 students from their current Trade Diploma in Baking and Patisserie and Trade Diploma Culinary Arts programmes.

Tickets to attend a master class are $30 or $70 for all day pass.

Student and industry concessions also apply.

The event is scheduled from May 29 to June 1.
