Ratu Anare Apenisa scored two goals to help Labasa win 4-0 against Dreketi in the Vodafone Fiji FACT at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori last night.

What happened?

It was a slow start for both teams in the first half. In the 24th minute, Labasa’s Ratu Anare scored the first goal to give Labasa a 1-0 lead. Labasa had more possession on the field as Dreketi struggled to keep them at bay.

In the 31st minute, Jonetani Buksh scored the second goal followed by Taniela Waqa scoring the third goal getting to give the side a comfortable 3-0 at halftime.

Dreketi managed to settle down in the second half with an improved defence. Despite Labasa having more ball possession they failed to get it past Dreketi goalkeeper Waisake Wavuiwasa. In the 70th minute, Ratu Apenisa got his second goal.

Big play: Labasa played their game down to almost perfection denying Dreketi the ball and space.

Star turn: Ratu Anare Apenisa, Taniela Waqa and Jonetani Buksh played well to secure the win.

Comments

Labasa coach Ronil Lal: “This was a good start for us and something we were looking for, the boys played really well and we are hoping to continue this win in our next games. “

Dreketi coach Johan Leewai: “We played a bad first half and came out a bit more stronger in the second half. This tournament is though a first time some of our boys. Hopefully by having their first game it will prepare them for the next games over the weekend.”
