Labasa and Nadi qualify for the semifinals from Group A.

This was after the Babasiga Lions edged Nadi 1-0 in the third day of the Vodafone Fijian FACT at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

The jetsetters came on strong applying pressure on the Labasa defence in the first half.

Waisake Tabucava copped a yellow card for a dangerous tackle on a Labasa player in the 34th minute.

Nadi had opportunities to score from corner kicks by Napolioni Qasevakatini but Labasa goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva did well. Discipline was an issue as Nadi’s Ame Totoya was red carded just before halftime.

Halftime: Nadi 0-0 Labasa

Labasa started off with a goal from Edwin Sahayam to put them in the lead, 1-0.

Nadi tried hard to equalise but the Labasa’s defence was too strong. Discipline continued to be a major problem as Nadi’s Mosese Baleinagaga was yellow carded.

Big play: Nadi’s goalkeeper Vereti Dickson was on form making some great saves.

Star turn: Edwin Sahayam was instrumental in the win.

Comments: Nadi coach Babs Khan said; “There are areas we need to improve on and we need to work hard before the semifinals.”

Labasa Ronil Lal said; “It was a good game, the boys played the game like a final.

“The semifinals will be a tough one and we need to make sure that we are well prepared for it so there is a lot of work that needs to be done.”
