Vodafone Fijian 7s team manager Jone Niurua believes coach Gareth Baber still needs more time to gel with the new players.

The side arrived at the Nadi International Airport yesterday from the London Sevens after finishing third in the 2016/2017 World Sevens Series.

“I think they need more time with the coach as he just started after the Wellington 7s tournament missing out Cape Town and Dubai and for that I think he is going in the right direction,” he said.

“Give Baber time and he will prove himself.”

He said Baber was doing a good development programme for the players.

“We won the Challenge Trophy in London and we finished third overall in the series. It’s challenge for us to build on in the 2017-18 World Sevens Series.”

He also congratulated Seremaia Tuwai and Kalione Nasoko for being named in the London 7s Dream Team.

“Tuwai and Nasoko were selected as DHL dream team in London and that was a good call and a good start for us to build on in the next series.”

The boys will take a one month break before resuming preparation next season which starts in December. Baber is expected to arrive in the country in a fortnight.
