New military recruits were reminded that their status didn’t rest in their ranks or the number of years they served for the military.

But, rather how they sacrifice their lives to serve  Fiji.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama made this statement during the passing out parade of 124 Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) recruits at the Force Training Group (FTG) in Nasinu yesterday.

Mr Bainimarama said: “I know very well the attitude and motives you have as a recruit.

“Today is a new beginning for all of you, welcome to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Family.”

Mr Bainimarama said the recruits began without any clue of what military life was really like.

But, he added they have performed to the best of their ability during the parade and the way they presented themselves in a way that was expected of a person in the military.

“Sometimes you will be called on duty, when you are out in the field then you will understand why you have undergone such training,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“Your status at the RFMF is not shown in the number of years you served as a soldier or in the rank you have, it shows in how you will give up your life for the safety and betterment of this nation, it is your duty to perform to the best,” Mr Bainimarama said.

He also thanked families and parents for their support with the RFMF recruits.
