Come 2018, Tavua Primary and Tavua College students will see their new auditorium.

This after the foundation laying ceremony was done on Friday and officiated by Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy at the college in Tavua.

Tavua Primary and College president manager and trustee Moti Chand said: “I came into this management in 1991 and since then it was our wish that we will build the auditorium.

“There was need for the auditorium because of growing number of students and demand from the community as whole.

“Our plan for constructing the auditorium has been pending for a very long time so this year we thought to start with this project,” he said.

Mr Chand said the cost of constructing this auditorium was about $1.5 million which was fully funded by the school management.

“The construction of the auditorium started last month and it is expected to be completed by next year,” he said.

“This auditorium will not only be used by the school but the Tavua community as well.”

Meanwhile, Mr Reddy said: “We are ensuring that we meet the expectations and requirements for the children throughout Fiji.

“We have got an education system that is tailor made to deal with circumstances of children no matter where they exist. Children we are here for you.”
