The Lomaiviti Princess III is expected to leave for Auckland, New Zealand for maintenance next week.

This was confirmed to the Fiji Sun by Goundar Shipping Limited managing director George Goundar.

“She leaves on the 14th of June, next week Wednesday 8am in the morning,” he said.

According to Mr Goundar this will be a four day voyage and it will arrive in Auckland June 18.

The Lomaiviti Princess III will dock at the Devonport, New Zealand’s naval base on June 19.

Maintenance work he said would take three weeks and the cost would be about US$1.5 million.

He said the absence of the Lomaiviti Princess III would not affect their services here in Fiji.

The Lomaiviti Princess II he said would be serving Koro, Lau and Levuka for the next three weeks and Lomaiviti I will be covering its own runs to Savusavu, Taveuni and Kadavu.

Meanwhile the Lomaiviti IV was on the Government slip way after it received damages when it ran aground at Buca Bay, Cakaudrove, last month.

He said the propeller, shaft and radar were damaged.

Mr Goundar said they were waiting for the parts to arrive from South Korea.

“They will be arriving in the next three weeks.”

The total cost for the damage to the Lomaiviti Princess IV is about $200 000.

Mr Goundar says the company’s main objective is to provide better and safer services to passengers.

The safety of the passengers was prioritised by the company.

On the competition he said it was tough and for them they listened to the passengers and stakeholders.

He said he had other plans for the company but would reveal them in the near future.
