The Vodafone Fiji national football visited Cuvu College as part of Fiji FA’s social responsibilities on Monday while on their way to Lautoka for the match against New Caledonia.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said the visit to the school was to motivate the students into sports in general and gave them an opportunity to meet highly professional football personalities.

“We want to motivate students to take sports and that was our major responsibility and we’re proud that school hosted us, ’Yusuf said.

Coach Christhope Gamel while addressing the students reminded them that they were future of the country.

“Do your best in anything you do and if you play football give your 100 percent dedication and have passion for the sport,” Gamel said.

Gamel said football was for everyone and everyone should enjoy playing football.

“Football is for everyone and it is not just for men and I urge women to take more interest in football.

“I know the sacrifice we have to do to reach a certain level and you as college footballers you need to work hard for your future.”

School teacher Ramesh Sharma said it was a proud moment for the College to host the Vodafone Fiji national football team.

‘It is a proud moment to welcome you to our college and especially to one of our former students Epeli Saukuru.

Sharma said Saukuru was one of the students of Cuvu College and played for Nadroga team before switching to Navua and Rewa.

“It is a proud moment for the Nadroga community that one of their sons is part of the national football team.”

Fiji played New Caledonia yesterday when this edition went to press and will travel to New Caledonia tomorrow for the second leg of their two leg series in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers_OFC Stage 3 Round on Sunday in Noumea.
