The bulk carrier Tasman Sea arrives this Sunday in Fiji with 24,000 tons of clinker for Pacific Cement Limited (PCL).

This was confirmed to Fiji Sun by Carpenters Shipping agent Avind Goundar.

He said while the Tasman Sea would be arriving this Sunday, their other vessel the Maipo River with 27,500 tons of clinker was still unloading at anchorage at Lami Bay.

The Maipo River he said arrived on April 24.

Meanwhile in an earlier interview with Sowani Tuidrola of PCL he said the vessel Maipo River had been in unloading clinker in the country for over month.

He said this was a very costly exercise which was beyond their control especially when they were paying an $11,000 per day fine to the owners of the vessel.

Mr Tuidrola said the Maipo River was scheduled to be in the country for seven days and beyond that PCL had to pay a $11,000 fine a day.
