It will be an exciting but emotional moment for Clermont club centre, Albert Vulivuli, if he is selected to play for the Vodafone Flying Fijians against Italy on  Saturday.

“It will be an exciting and emotional moment for me to play for my country,” he said.

“My mother died a month ago and I am pretty sure she would have been happy to watch me play at home.”

The 32-year-old, who hails from Savusavu, Cakaudrove, is the younger brother of former national football rep, Thomas Vulivuli.

His sister Finau Vulivuli is one of the country’s female football referees.

Vulivuli is best known for his strong runs and defence in the Top 14 competition in France.

“Preparations are coming along well for our test match this Saturday and I can see the boys have been training and working hard in the few days,” he said.

“My focus is to do my best and try and make our home fans proud.

“I would also like to ask all the Fijian fans to come down with their families and support the boys this Saturday.”
