Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team are favourites for the second round of the West Secondary Schools Rugby Union competition which gets underway today.

The Nadroga based- school walloped neighbours Sigatoka Methodist College 55-0 in the first round last Saturday and today they face Nadi favourites Ratu Navula College.

Cuvu College fielded majority of the BLK Nadroga Under-20 players and would be the team to watch in this year’s Coke Zero Deans Trophy competition.

Ratu Navula College, Cuvu College, Sigatoka Methodist Colege and Natabua High School are the four schools in the West competing in the round robin competition of the U18 grade.

Cuvu College have produced top players like All Blacks winger Waisake Naholo and former Wallabies Taqele Naiyaravoro. WSSRU secretary Meshar Ali have also confirmed the Sigatoka Zone have completed their competition while Ba, Nadi and Lautoka will complete their round of games this week.

“From the Sigatoka zone Cuvu College and Nasikawa Vision have booked their  quarter-final place in the U16 grade while Sigatoka Methodist and St Theresa in the U17 grade.

“We are now waiting for Ba, Lautoka and Nadi zones to complete their round of games this week.”

The WSSRU will have their quarterfinals on July 1, followed by the semi-finals on July 8 and July 15 will be the grand final.
