Mohammed Yusuf is expecting the Vodafone Fiji FACT semifinals to be a cracker at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori today.

The Fiji Football Association chief executive officer said with the four teams having ample time to prepare for the showdown, fans should expect really good games. Labasa play Rewa at 2pm and Suva face defending champion Nadi at 4.30pm.

“Labasa and Rewa should be a cracker of a game, we know Labasa has a lot of fan base in Viti Levu,” Yusuf said.

“Rewa aim to defend their fort and the ‘Delta Tigers’ will not be a team to go down easily as the bulk of their squad consist of national reps.

“Nadi is a strong team being the defending champions but this is the business end of FACT, one wrong move and you are out.

“Suva has done well to reach this far and I know they have got the backing of their fans who will be rallying behind them.”

Meanwhile, behind the scenes anti-doping tests will continue but Yusuf is warning players that this is the educational period for them.

“We will continue the anti-doping tests but I want players and clubs to know that this is the educational period,” he said.

“This is where we give them a second chance to come clean by having them re-tested as we aim to clean up the sport.

“But there will be no second chances in future.  Next year the punishment may be harsher and players tested positive for illegal substances could face a suspension of up to two or more years.

“We hope the clubs and players will take this seriously and see that what we are trying to do.”
